CAD Designer - BOSS Products

Location: Iron Mountain, MI

BOSS Products, a Division of The Toro Company. is a world-class safety-minded company located in Iron Mountain, in the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of CAD Designer.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform product improvement projects as directed by engineers including all Pro/Engineer modeling and drawing tasks.
  • Manage design projects of limited to medium
  • Perform product release using ECNs
  • Design Verification per existing test specifications
  • Perform Cost Estimates
  • Identify and implement product improvements
  • Support manufacturing improvements

Requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • Associates Degree in CAD or 5 years related work experience
  • Five years related work experience preferred with one year fabrication/manufacturing experience
  • Proficient using solid modeling software (Pro/E Preferred)
  • Strong visualization skill
  • Ability to use test equipment including sensors and data acquisition equipment with direction from engineering
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands on mechanical and automotive related skills
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics and electrical circuits
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Industrial Engineer - BOSS Products

Location: Iron Mountain, MI

BOSS Products, a Division of The Toro Company, is a world-class safety-minded company located in Iron Mountain, in the heart of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We are currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Industrial Engineer in our BOSS Manufacturing Plant.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment through deep understanding of industrial machinery; including machine design, controls and operation
  • Ability to visualize & troubleshoot electrical/mechanical/hydraulic subsystems within a system
  • Source/utilize information and specialty tools, as necessary, to accomplish the above
  • Formulate and lead/implement repairs using sound judgment and best known practices
  • Coordinate installation & start-up of new equipment
  • Documentation and other recordkeeping utilizing a computerized Maintenance Database
  • Develop & implement improvement ideas to keep BOSS competitive
  • Participate in and own/lead specific safety systems across the plant

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering related discipline.
  • Minimum five years of related maintenance experience or demonstrated abilities in electrical/mechanical/hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical curiosity & desire to become a technical master of our core processes
  • Demonstrated self-initiative, ability to work with minimal supervision and leadership
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to see a project through to completion
  • Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written, up/down/across both internal and external organizations
  • Work effectively with others in a fast-paced environment across organizational boundaries both as an individual and member of a broader team
  • Demonstrated value for safety and willingness to participate in safety programs including providing peer to peer feedback and driving safety improvements as a matter of daily business
  • Willingness to work extended hours, off shifts, and be part of a small group that handles breakdown call-in repairs and periodic weekend work as business needs surface
  • Ability to teach others as we strive to grow basic technical skills and preventive maintenance responsibilities in our core operations
  • Previous experience in laser/plasma cutting, press brakes, plate rolling equipment, robotic programming/operation, welding, powder coating, or other specialty skills applicable to our business is a plus
  • A general positive attitude, a desire to contribute, and willingness to join an organization driven to be the best in our industry in all aspects

Quality Inspector (2nd shift) - BOSS Products

Location: Iron Mountain, MI

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect piece parts, weldments, and painted product to ensure all product characteristics are being met
  • Disposition of nonconforming product to ensure minimal scrap/rework cost
  • Ensure timely reporting of all scrap and rework cost
  • Conduct out of box inspection and assembly inspection on finished product
  • Maintain 5S in inspection area to ensure clean and organized workspace
  • Perform inspection of weldment fixtures to ensure parts are built to the proper dimensions and maintain a record of these inspections
  • Ensure initial sample inspections are performed to ensure the quality of new products
  • Support problem solving by identifying and eliminating root causes
  • Ensure method sheets for building product match the specification on the drawing and include any extra notes to ensure exceptional product quality
  • Ability to work second shift: 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Requirements of the ideal candidate:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • ISO 9001 understanding and experience
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Strong attention to detail
