Design Engineer - BOSS Products

Location: Iron Mountain

BOSS Products, a Division of The Toro Company, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Design Engineer.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • New product design and project management of various complexities to achieve goals of function, cost, timing, and quality.
  • Identify and implement product improvements
  • Specify and perform design validation as necessary
  • Perform Product release including administering ECNs
  • Perform Cost Estimates
  • Support manufacturing improvements
  • Support the Technical Service Department through direct customer contact via telephone

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Proficient using solid modeling software (Creo Parametric/Pro-E Preferred), Finite Element Analysis, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
  • Knowledgeable in Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Welding and other manufacturing processes
  • Strong visualization skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude with hands on mechanical and automotive related skills
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics and electrical circuits
  • Ability to specify and use test equipment including sensors and data acquisition equipment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Manufacturing Engineer - BOSS Products

Materials Manager - BOSS Products

Location: Iron Mountain

BOSS Products, a Division of The Toro Company, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Materials Manager.

Major Function:

  • Assures all needed materials to support the Master Schedule are planned, expedited, warehoused and distributed in the most cost effective manner.
  • Obtains major performance goals including schedule adherence, work in process levels (WIP), finished goods level, service fill rates, inventory turns and budget controls.
  • Receives, warehouses and distributes inventory in a cost-effective manner while maintaining inventory accuracy through a cycle counting program.
  • Maintains Kanban systems, programs and processes necessary to support inventory goals.
  • Work in conjunction with the Sales, Marketing, Financial, and Manufacturing Groups to develop and maintain the Master Schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Master Scheduling
    • Ensures the Master Scheduler has all models scheduled in an efficient, logical manner that facilitates accepted manufacturing practices.
    • Works closely with Order Entry, Purchasing, Marketing and Operations to ensure their requirements are met and maintained regarding product and material availability.
    • Meets regularly with the above departments regarding changes to the Master Schedule.
  • Planning
    • Utilizing Syteline and Kanban assures the material required to support the Master Schedule is available.
    • Insures the Planning function follows agreed upon parameters regarding purchased volumes, lead times, and delivery dates including service order requirements.
    • Coordinates the activities required to remedy material shortages until resolution.
    • Directs the overall Kanban program for the Iron Mountain facility.
    • Meets yearly with critical vendors as it relates to the above requirements.
  • Warehousing, Receiving, Shipping, and Service Parts
    • Responsible for shipping of finished product in a proper and effective manner in accordance with Toro and Federal transportation regulations.
    • Receives and warehouses material in an accurate and cost effective manner. Supplies the manufacturing area with material as requested by the Master Schedule.
    • Accounts for accuracy of inventory, lost inventory, and location accuracy through the use of accepted cycle counting procedures.
    • Ensures at least one statistical inventory audit and one final inventory audit are conducted during each fiscal year.
    • Responsible for all service part order fulfillment.
  • Other
    • Ensures that obsolete inventories are properly and timely disposed of using agreed upon budgets and parameters.
    • Coordinates the ISO program with regard to materials.
    • Leads and promotes continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.
    • Recommends and implements technology improvements.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A. Degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting or a related area
  • Minimum of five years' experience with budgeting, production control, inventory control, material planning, etc.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Must have direct supervisory experience
  • Proven problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated self-initiative

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and support n-tier applications written in Microsoft .NET (ASP.NET, WCF, WPF) and Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Convert legacy applications to Microsoft .NET
  • Complete simple system analysis and design specifications
  • Comply with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices
  • Understand emerging technology and infrastructure as it relates to development and architecture (operating systems, security, hardware, etc.)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in software development and a minimum 3 years in software development, preferably in a business setting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 – 4.5 (C#, ASP.NET)
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript (jQuery)
  • Knowledge of Visual Basic 6 a plus
  • Knowledge of T-SQL with an ability to write SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Experience with ORM (Object Relational Mapping) frameworks (NHibernate)
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio
  • Understanding of object oriented design, client-server architecture and relational database design
  • Experience using Team Foundation Server for source control and build management a plus
